Features
FreeNAS is to all intents and purposes an Operating System, based on FreeBSD, dedicated exclusively to NAS (Network Attached Storage) virtual machines and/or devices. In its current state, it is one of the best storage solutions available. In addition to the fact that it is easy to manage thanks to an online graphic interface, it supports many protocols including AFP, CIFS, FTP, NFS, SSH, SFTP and TFTP, and is compatible with LDAP and Active Directory authentication mechanisms. FreeNas is available on Aruba Cloud on Hypervisor VMware, and when you create your own Cloud Server Storage, you do not need to configure a virtual machine with high performance levels in terms of vCPU and/or RAM. However, if you want to get the most out of the features and potential offered by FreeNas, we recommend installing at least 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM.
When configuring disk space, it should be remembered that future expansion of the hard disk is strongly discouraged as this cannot be managed via the graphic interface. However, as for any Cloud Server, you can increase the number of hard disks at any time without any side effects.
Access
To access the control panel via the online interface all you need to do is enter the Public IP address associated with that Cloud Server (e.g.: http://95.110.153.5). This will open a page requesting the administrator user name and password.
The administrator username for access is "admin" (not "root" or "administrator").
The password is the one chosen when configuring the Cloud Server Storage.
More experienced users can also access it via SSH, which is useful to get "backstage" of the virtual machine, but not necessary for configuring and managing the Storage.
Given the complete graphic interfaced offered by FreeNas, we do not recommend deleting the Public IP associated with the Cloud Server Storage; otherwise, you will only be able to access it from other Cloud Servers connected to the same network.
Setup
There are no particular customization options on this template, as this is a standard FreeNAS installation.
